The Office of Biotechnology Transfer (OBT), established in 1992 by the Fondazione Centro San Raffaele del Monte Tabor, acts as the interface between the Foundation and the business community in the life science sector (pharma groups, biotech companies, food and cosmetic industries) as well as merchant banks and venture capitalists.

The main activities of the Office of Biotechnology Transfer are:

1. Intellectual property management;
2. Promotion of research results towards the life science business community;
3. Negotiation and management of sponsored research and services with industry;
4. Licensing of intellectual property rights of the Fondazione Centro San Raffaele del Monte Tabor;
5. Creation of spin offs companies;
6. Management of Material Transfer Agreements (MTA) and Animal Transfer Agreements (ATA) ;

The Office of Biotechnology Transfer manages the relationship with industry for all aspects related to sponsored research and service agreements, as well for spin off company creation.
The Office of Biotechnology Transfer has filed 84 patent families on behalf of the Foundation, many of which are available as licensing opportunities in several therapeutic areas.

The Office of Biotechnology Transfer, finally, has created a network of technology brokers specialized in the life science sector, active in the major biotech and pharma clusters and science parks.
